Mothers Day, May 13

Mothers Day is a celebration of mothers, grand-

mothers, step-mothers, foster mothers, aunts, and

those "just-like-a-mother" mothers. The day's origin

can actually be traced back to a desire for world peace, followed by community improvement and healing rifts. It wasn't until 1907 that the roots of Mother's Day took root to become the celebration observed today.

It's time for Annual Conference! Churches from the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal District's Philadelphia and Baltimore District's five conferences will come together to conduct business, worship, praise, be inspired, and gain new insights and energies.

Memorial Day, May 28

Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, honors the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. Military. Originally designated as Decoration Day, the date of the observance was May 30, until 1968, when Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act and established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May.
